In this Quran verse from Surah Al-Furqan, Allah provides a glimpse of some of the characteristics of His slaves that he calls Ibad-ur-Rahman.
islam on Who are the ‘Ibad ur Rahman’ (Slaves of Allah)?
63. And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.
64. And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing.
65. And those who say: “Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.”
Quran (Surah Al-Furqan, Verses 63-65)
  • In these verses attention is being drawn to the two patterns of character and life: first of those who had accepted the Message of the Holy Prophet and were following it, and the second of those who persisted in the ways of ignorance.
  • The prominent characteristics of the true Believers are:
  • They walk on the earth with dignity, serenity and humility, not with arrogance and pride. (“Walking humbly” does not mean walking like a weak or sick person, nor does it imply the gait of a hypocrite who walks ostentatiously to show humility or fear of God. According to Traditions, the Holy Prophet himself used to walk with firm, quick steps.)
  • If the ignorant people insult them with bad words, they do not respond likewise, but they forgive and overlook, and say nothing but good words. (This is what the Messenger of Allah did: the more ignorant the people, the more patient he would be.)
  • The true servants of the “Merciful” do not believe in “vengeance”, though they may have to deal with ignorant people who behave rudely and insolently towards them. If they happen to come across such people, they wish them peace and turn away. (The same has been expressed in Surah AI-Qasas: 55, thus:

‘Why are you Muslim?’ It may sound like an obvious question, but often many of us don’t have a clear answer to it. I remember being asked this question by my elder brother when I was fourteen years of age, my initial answer was ‘Well, our family is Muslim’, his reply to this made me think, he said, ‘If your family were Hindu or Christian, would you be as well?’. I replied with a strong ‘No, Islam is the truth’, the discussion that followed made me question the basis of my life and changed my life for ever. He triggered me to think about how to prove that Islam is the truth rather than just believing it emotionally or blindly. In fact Allah (swt) has condemned people for imitating their forefathers and adopting their belief without clear evidence.

In the Holy Qur’an, He (swt) says:

“And verily guess is no substitute for the truth.” [TMQ 53:28]

“They have no (certain) knowledge. They follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not (‘Isa).” [TMQ 4:157]

"These are nothing but names which you have devised, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their Nafs desire. Even though there has already come to them the Guidance from their Rabb" [TMQ 53:23]

"Do you have Ilm (knowledge) for that which you claim so that you provide us with? You follow nothing but conjecture (Zann)." [TMQ 6:148]

Daripada Abu Hurairah r.a., Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda yang bermaksud:

"What the *******!"
"Hey you, ******, how are you?" "Where in the *******have you been?"
If you listen to the conversation of the average Muslim youth talking to each other, unfortunately this is what you will hear.......expletives, bad words and cusses. In fact, foul language is often heard as part of their everyday life at school, universities and work place.
What's worse is that they use these words without thinking..... without remorse and without even realizing that these words are obscene, filthy or repulsive.... using 'four letter words' in every sentence and in every conversation.
Using the words 'hell' and calling each other 'dog' and 'gay' like it's nothing.
And these are some of the more 'decent' words.
There are other, much worse words that are totally unmentionable. May Allaah protect us.
These people, like their non-Muslim peers, seem to be completely desensitized to the use of foul and offensive words, including many that make others cringe with shame and embarrassment.
Yet, when you reprimand them for using such language, what do they say?
"O come on! This is how everyone talks!" or "This is how I 'express' myself. or "We don't mean it in a bad way, we're just joking around with each other!"
Subhaan Allaah! Calling each other bad names and using foul language!
Since when did that become a 'joke'? Since when did cussing become part of a Muslim's vocabulary?

It is said: “Whoever acts by what he knows, God will bequeath to him knowledge that he does not know.”1 Thus, as a person practices what they know, they are guided to a deepening of faith, a sharpening of the spiritual faculty, and an intensifying of taqwa. The Qurʾān insists:
While as for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance, and bestows on them their piety. [Surah Muḥammad,17]
There are, we are cautioned, certain pitfalls along the path which we must steer clear of; and it is not uncommon for those committed to religious observance (“practicing Muslims” is the usual term) to stumble headlong into such dangers, corrupting works of faith and poisoning the Spirit and health of the heart. Of these pitfalls is 'ujb: vanity, conceit, vain-glory, egotism.
In the case of religious works, 'ujb is when we fail to realize that the act of worship we have performed, or the knowledge we have gained, or the charity we have given – for instance – is not of our own doing; but is a gift from God. Only when blinded to such a reality do we then start to see these works as being of our own accomplishment and efforts. We then begin to become vain, egotistical and bask in our own self-glory. Ibn 'Ata'illah counsels us: 'Let not acts of obedience make you joyous because they come from you. But be joyous because they come from God to you.'
Say: “In the grace of God and His mercy, in that let them rejoice. This is better than that which they hoard.” [Surah Yunus, 58]2
Akin to the dangers of 'ujb is that of kibr – arrogance, haughtiness, pride, hubris. One hadith defines arrogance as being:
batr al-haqq wa ghamat al-nas – 'rejecting the truth and looking down on others.' [Muslim, no.91]
Seeing ourselves as better than others or viewing others with contempt, disdain or as being inferior, is outright arrogance or kibr. There are many manifestations of kibr. Being boastful about one's looks, wealth, worldly achievement, or social status are among the most common; as is considering oneself to be religiously more devout or more pious than others. Ibn 'Ata'illah writes: 'Disobedience which bequeaths humiliation and extreme brokenness is better than obedience that bequeaths conceit and arrogance.'3

It was from the practice of the pious (Muslim) men and women who came before us that if they were defeated by an enemy, they would scrutinise themselves and would search for the cause of this defeat. As a consequence, if they found in themselves any opposition to the prophetic traditions in any matter, they hastened in changing it, following the Sunnah (prophetic traditions) and cultivating the Ummah (the Islamic Nation) accordingly.
The fact that they were fewer in number than their enemies proved to be of little consequence as after executing their plan of attack Allâh, The Most High, would aid them, thus actualising what He, The Most High, mentioned in His Book:
"If you help Allâh (strive in the way of your Lord), He will help and strengthen you."
These are some plans of action with regards seeking to procure the True Help (the Help of Allâh) for the Ummah, if Allâh so wishes:
1 – Strive and be earnest to desist and refrain from sins that you commit and find yourself continuous upon - and we ask Allâh to help us in abstaining from them.
2 – Be observant on attending the prayer in the Masjid (praying with the people), five times a day and especially the Fajr (dawn) prayer ("Indeed prayer has been prescribed upon the believers ... ").
3 – Try to give charity to the poor and destitute people even if it is something very small, for indeed charity given in secret extinguishes the anger of your Lord.
4 – Be mindful (O Sisters!) of being modest and covering yourself completely from now (according to the prescribed ways) and do not be of those who say, 'I will start doing it from tomorrow'.
5 – Be observant on raising your children with a true Islamic cultivation, so that they maybe like the children of the Companions, may Allâh be pleased with them all. So that they may become a people better in the sight of Allâh than the people of today.
6 – Increase your superogatory prayers daily.

You cannot escape it. The discussion about habits is all around you: Mom and Dad are constantly telling you to break your bad habits; your teachers are telling you to develop good habits; your friends are pressuring you to adopt their habits; and the television and media are influencing you to explore new and supposedly cool habits. "You will never be successful," the constant refrain goes, "unless you drop your bad habits and develop some good habits." In the end, it's all up to you. You have to decide what your habits are going to be. Have you given this matter some thought?
If you are alive and breathing, you should constantly be engaged in an inner struggle to develop habits which draw you closer to Allah Most High. Success in this world is directly related to the strength of your relationship with Allah. The farther one is from Allah and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the less likely one is to achieve success in this world and, for sure, even less likely to achieve success in the hereafter. Is it not time for us to reflect upon Islamic teachings to discern the necessary habits of highly successful Muslim youth?
Here are at least seven habits indispensable for highly successful Muslim youth, derived entirely from the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

#1 Be Truthful

Being truthful is not always easy, especially when we make a mistake. We fret over whether or not to disclose exactly what happened. We sweat, we are afraid, we feel nervous and anxious. We are often afraid that if we tell the truth about what we have done or said, we will be in trouble with our parents or friends. What we forget is that whether we tell the truth or not, Allah Most High knows exactly what took place, even those things that were never manifest or visible to people around us. Despite how burdensome telling the truth might seem, all of us are aware of the feeling of relief we experience when we tell the truth, even if the consequence of telling the truth is punishment. Casting the telling of truth and the fate of the truthful in terms of profit and loss, Allah Most High tells us in the Qur'an:
[This is a day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath — their eternal Home: Allah well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation, (the fulfillment of all desires).] (Al-Ma'idah 5:119)
So much is to be gained from being truthful as opposed to escaping punishment or blame because of not being truthful. Not being truthful, in fact, leads us down a slippery slope, guaranteeing that with one lie, more lies must be told. Being truthful is not an option for Muslims, but rather an obligation, because our goal in being truthful is Paradise. The beloved of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), said, as narrated by `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him),
Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to al-fujur [wickedness, evil-doing], and al-fujur leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is witten before Allah, a liar." (Sahih Bukhari, Book #73, Hadith #116)
Ultimate success is therefore achieved by living one's entire life — the youthful years, the adult years, and the elderly years — being truthful.

Perisai, itulah tudung labuh. Semakin labuh tudungnya, semakin segan orang sekeliling terhadap pemakainya. Bukan mengharap penghormatan orang lain, cuma ingin memberitahu"aku seorang muslimah".

Many years ago in Uzbekistan, a baby boy was born blind. His Mother, the strong Mu'minah that she was, did not lose sight of He who had the Power to cure him. She prayed and prayed for her sons sight. And within a few years the boy regained his eyes.

She was widowed, the boy an orphan. She traveled with him to Makkah so that he could receive an Islamic Education. She arranged that he attend the circles of the scholars, and in those circles, he began excelling in the science of Hadeeth. He traveled to distant villages in search of the most authentic sayings of Rasul Allah (pbuh). He would pray two raka'at before accepting a Hadeeth. His mother named him: Muhammad ibn Isma'il. And many of us know him today by the book he compiled, the book that stands after the Qur'an in authenticity: Saheeh Al-Imam Al-Bukhari!
In another land, in another time, chilly Baghdad winds would wake up another boy. Much before Fajr, his mother would bundle him in warm shawls and escort him through the darkness, making sure he reached the Masjid safely. After Fajr, she would wait for him as he read Hadeeth to the biggest scholars of the land. Then, long after the sun had come up, she would meet him outside and together they would walk home. She was a strong mother indeed, for her son grew up to become an Imam of the Muslim Ummah, an Imam by the name of Ahmad ibn Hanbal. (Manaaqib Ahmad, by Ibn Al-Jowzee)
Imam Suyuti authored his first book, Tafseer Bismillaah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheeem, when he was in grade 2!
Dear brothers and sisters, why should we try to follow in the footsteps of these many other stars of Islam? The information that we shall in sha' Allah learn is not like anything else. This knowledge is the law of Allah and the inheritance of the Prophets. It is our duty to preserve and protect the estate of Rasul Allah (pbuh), something that cannot happen without there being serious and sincere brothers and sisters spending long days and nights reading, reflecting, and teaching others.
Every Islamic revival that takes place is built on something. Some revivals are built on emotions, others on politics. Do you know which shall remain firm when the wind of woe blows? It shall be the one that was built on sound knowledge of the words of Allah and the Sunnah of Rasul Allah.
sincere man once stood on the beach shore watching, to his dismay, the waves thrashing a fish up and down, left and right. The man concluded that he must save the fish. He thrashed into the water and grabbed the fish by the tail. He then thrashed back to shore and threw the fish on the beach, satisfied that he had saved it from the water!
Dear brothers and sisters, when we work for the sake of Allah without knowledge of what the path of Allah is, many times we do as that young man did.
We are living in an age of information. We have lights in every corner of the house when only yesterday our ancestors read by the light of the moon. We have publishing houses when only yesterday our ancestors wrote the books they owned with their own hands. We have CD's to search the Hadeeth archives when our scholars spent days upon days searching for proof and evidence in their libraries. Shouldn't the knowledge increase with all this ease? It should. But it has not.
Dear brothers and sisters, we know that when a prize is great, the responsibility, and the work required for that prize shall also be great. And because of this, we see the enormous reward promised to those scholars and students of Islam due to the heavy work required.

    Runnymede Trust:
The Runnymede Trust has identified eight components that they say define Islamophobia.

This definition, from the 1997 document 'Islamophobia: A Challenge For Us All' is widely accepted, including by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia.

    The eight components are:
    1) Islam is seen as a monolithic bloc, static and unresponsive to change.
    2) Islam is seen as separate and 'other'. It does not have values in common with other cultures, is not affected by them and does not influence them.
    3) Islam is seen as inferior to the West. It is seen as barbaric, irrational, primitive and sexist.
    4) Islam is seen as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism and engaged in a 'clash of civilisations'.
    5) Islam is seen as a political ideology and is used for political or military advantage.
    6) Criticisms made of the West by Islam are rejected out of hand.
    7) Hostility towards Islam is used to justify discriminatory practices towards Muslims and exclusion of Muslims from mainstream society.
    8) Anti-Muslim hostility is seen as natural or normal.

Islamic Human Rights Commission on Runnymede Trust report:
The report itself is not without fault. In particular it advocates that Muslims, as a self-help measure should be more accommodating towards the Jewish community regarding events in the Middle East. It suggests we should condemn every action taken that offends Jewish sensibilities in the Middle East, almost regardless of the rights and wrongs of each individual incident. The Runnymede Trust published a similar report on anti-Semitism in 1993, and no similar recommendation was made to the Jewish community. This aside, the report documented the problems faced by Muslims in a very real and thorough manner. The Runnymede Trust was set up in 1968 as a think tank to advise government on race relations issues. It is well-respected, and the fact that its findings can be so easily brushed aside augurs ill for Muslims in the UK, who already face bleak prospects.

Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported: “I heard the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saying: “A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about whether it is good or evil) and as a result, will plummet into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west.” [Al-Bukhaari & Muslim]
Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “A man may utter a word pleasing to Allaah without considering it of any significance, but for which Allaah elevates his ranks (in Paradise); another one may speak a word displeasing to Allaah without considering it of any importance, but for which he would be plummeted into Hell.” [Al-Bukhaari]
Abu ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Bilaal bin Al-Haarith Al-Muzani, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “A man may speak a good word without knowing its worth, for which Allaah records for him His good pleasure until the Day he will meet Him; another man may utter an evil word without realising its importance, for which Allaah records for him His displeasure until the Day he will meet Him.” [Maalik & At-Tirmithi]
When the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was talking to Mu’aath, may Allaah be pleased with him, he told him: “The root (i.e. foundation) of this matter is Islaam, its pillar (mainstay) is the prayer and its apex is Jihaad (fighting in the cause of Allaah).” Then he sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam asked: “Shall I tell you of that which holds together all these things?” Mu’aath, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allaah!” So he sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam held his tongue between his fingers, and said: “Restrain this.” Mu’aath, may Allaah be pleased with him, asked: “O Messenger of Allaah! Will we really be held to account for what we say?” The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam exclaimed: “May your mother lose you! Most people will be thrown on their faces into the Hellfire on account of their tongues.” [Ahmad & At-Tirmithi]
Ibn Mas’ood, may Allaah be pleased with him: “That which requires imprisonment the most is one’s tongue.”
`Adiyy bin Haatim, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam as saying: “Allaah will surely speak to every one of you without an interpreter. He (i.e., the one being spoken to) will look to his right and see nothing but (deeds) which he had done, and will look to his left and see nothing but (deeds) which he had done. Then he will look in front of him and will find nothing except the Hellfire facing him. So protect (yourselves) from the Fire, even if by giving in charity half a date, and if you cannot find that, then with a kind word.” [Al-Bukhaari & Muslim]

Question:  What are the best ways a muslim can thank Allah for all the blessings HE has bestowed on us.
    Praise be to Allaah.

    Firstly:
Thanks or gratitude means reciprocating kindness and giving praise to the one who has done good and kind things. The one who is most deserving of thanks and praise from people is Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, because of the great favours and blessings that He has bestowed upon His slaves in both spiritual and worldly terms. Allaah has commanded us to give thanks to Him for those blessings, and not to deny them. He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me”
    [al-Baqarah 2:152]

    Secondly:
The greatest ones who obeyed this command, and gave thanks to their Lord until they deserved to be described as shaakir and shakoor (thankful) are the Prophets and Messengers (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him).
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Verily, Ibraaheem (Abraham) was an Ummah (a leader having all the good righteous qualities), or a nation, obedient to Allaah, Haneef (i.e. to worship none but Allaah), and he was not one of those who were Al‑Mushrikoon (polytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah, and those who joined partners with Allaah).
    121. (He was) thankful for His (Allaah’s) Favours. He (Allaah) chose him (as an intimate friend) and guided him to a Straight Path (Islamic Monotheism — neither Judaism nor Christianity)”
    [al-Nahl 16:120, 121]
“O offspring of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nûh (Noah)! Verily, he was a grateful slave”
    [al-Isra’ 17:3]

As time has gone by, the people have gone further from the Prophetic way (of Islam and all the Prophets). And so the people have lost much of the sunnah and piety, so that the amount of sincere and righteous Muslims has decreased. It has fallen to such an extent that it has related to the increased selfishness in society.

As society and culture has become more selfish (through materialism, love of dunya etc), more people became influenced by the selfishness. And it kept increasing every decade (and even years at times), such that it has become the norm, and the path that people think is good and aspire to. They think its a "dog eat dog eat world", a "cut throat economy", and that we need to care for ourselves because no one will care for us. It became so accepted that people in general tended to think that there are no people who are pious, sincere or selfless. Thus they negated the existence of the Awliya (friends of Allah swt) of the present (and in many cases, of the past).

The selfish people (which is the norm in society, even amongst Muslims) struggle to overcome their selfishness (which includes their desires) if they try, and because of their ego, they think that if they can't do it (become selfless), then no one can. So they assume wrongly about the selfless people, deny their existence, and treat them like the selfless are selfish people. Since the Prophet said A believer is a mirror of the believer.” [Abu Dawud], the selfish person is seeing his own selfishness in the other.

A hypocrite believes one thing and says another; he says one thing and does another. He knows what’s right and has certain ideals, yet fails to live up to them.
“Surely the hypocrites strive to deceive Allah, but it is He Who deceives them. And when they stand up for prayer, they stand with laziness only to show off to the people; and they do not remember Allah except a little.” -Surah Nisa, ayah 142
May Allah purify our intentions and protect us from being among the Munafiqun (The Hypocrites). Ameen. Thuma, Ameen.

What are the seven highly effective habits that successful Muslim families must have?

SubhanAllaah, this could be at least 100 habits, however today we will only go over 7 of them inshAllaah.

The first most effective habit of a Muslim family should be to have tawheed in Allaah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala), and how to worship Allaah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala).  To be able to know who He is and what His characteristics are.
The second highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is worshipping Allaah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) together as a family.
The third highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is knowing who the Prophet (SallAllaahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam) is, and practicing his sunnah.
The fourth highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is mercy for the young, and respect for the elders.
The fifth highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is to listen to each other, and learn to communicate with each other.
The sixth highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is constantly learning and growing as a family.
The seventh highly effective habit that every Muslim family must have is for them as a family to lead by example.

If mother of Prophet Isah (Jesus) (AS), Maryam, had carried and delivered him all in a single day, world would have praised it as a miracle. They would have referred her as a woman with divinity (special powers from God). No one would have thrown stones at her, isolated or accused her of wrongdoings.
Why did not Allah make this a miracle happening all in a single day?
That is the natural procedure Allah would carry out his decision. We can understand this fact from many mentions in Qur’an. If Allah decides to test His slave, that would occur in all normal and ordinary way- be it an ailment, hunger or fear- everything happens in its natural way. But, we have been completely wrong in perceiving this in real sense. A believer must comprehend that whatever Allah orders would certainly happen in his life and whatever happened in the past and present are as per the decrees of Allah. This comprehension is something which is possible only for a believer. Let’s see what Allah orders to the gallant warriors who fight with the enemies in the battlefield.
He says in Surah Thouba, verse 51:
Say: “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us, He is our protector”, and on Allah let the Believers put their trust (Qura’n 9:51).

As-salam 'alaykum wa rehmatullaah dear muslim brothers and sisters,
May Allaah reward each and every person who wrote whatever he/she could against the Tyrant Israel and its supporters. May Allaah bless every person who informed fellow Muslims about the condition of Muslims in Gaza.
Our Muslim brothers in Gaza are being tortured and killed by the enemies of Allah. They are undergoing all sorts of torture and oppression. It is our duty to support them by all possible means including money, power, and Prayers to Allah for them. In this way, we will be acting upon the Saying of Allah,
The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islamic religion). (Qur'aan 49:10)
