 Raghad Ebied -

We are all inevitably going to face moments of disappointment in our life – disappointments from work, family, friends, and even ourselves. That’s the very nature of the world we live in – it’s not ideal, it’s not perfect and shortcomings are bound to happen from others and from ourselves.
The question is how do we deal with these disappointments – how do we reconcile our need to have fulfilling jobs and relationships and fulfill our own promises to ourselves when we as well as others are humans who can be weak and forgetful?
How do we forgive when we’re hurt? How do we “forget” when we need to move on? How do we overcome intense feelings of disappointment and sometimes disbelief about what happens around us?
For some people, they indeed feel everything so much more intensely – including joy and sorrow, pain and relief, disappointment and awe. Maybe their tears suddenly start to flow when they see a child crying because they had to say good bye to a loved one or lost something special. Maybe they worry a lot when they hear about family or friends going through a difficult time.
An ability to feel what others feel, to know how others feel, to support others through what they feel. Cherish this blessing. Certainly, do not feel ashamed of it. And use it to bring comfort to others. These are the emotions of compassion, of empathy and of sensitivity to those around you or what some may call the “Highly sensitive person” (HSP), which is actually found in 20% of our human population. Allah has bestowed you with a blessing that you can use to bring comfort to others.
The other side of this blessing though could be your sensitivity to negativity, criticism, and disappointment. Don’t feel guilty about minimizing these situations when you can help it – and if they can’t be minimized because they are a part of your daily life with family or work for example, one can learn how to manage them.

Whenever a person faces hardship, it’s easy for him/her to give up and walk away from their challenges or complain and blame those around him/her. They fall into depression, feel sad about their situation and feel powerless. They don’t understand “why this is happening to them” or “what they did to deserve this”. But for a ProductiveMuslim, his/her way of thinking is completely different.
Whenever a ProductiveMuslim faces hardship, he/she takes a step back from their difficult situation and thinks about it from a higher level. They step back from their life with all its worries, anxieties, problems, and thinks about it from an Akhira perspective, then they ask themselves the question: what does this ALL mean when compared to the Hereafter? What does this ALL mean when compared to eternity in Jannah?
One of the main misunderstanding we all have in this life is that if we do good, we should get good in this life and hereafter. This is not entirely true.
This life is not the life we’ll get justice in. If this was the case, there would be no need for a Day of Judgement or Akhira.

Dalam Al-Qur’an banyak ayat yang berbicara mengenai kesabaran. Jika diteliti, terdapat 103 kali disebut dalam Al-Qur’an,
Ini menunjukkan betapa kesabaran menjadi perhatian Allah S.W.T.

(Al-Anfal: 46)

6. Mendapatkan pahala surga dari Allah. (Ar-Ra’d: 23 – 24)

“Do not grieve; Indeed, Allah is with us.” -Qur’an, 9:40
We have to trust and remember that Allah truly has the best plans for each of us. Some steps along the way may be difficult, but light follows darkness in the skies, just as ease follows hardships in our lives.
Be grateful for every single person who was part of your story. The ones that hurt you. The ones that helped you. The ones that came, and the ones that left. They all taught you. Don't think for a moment that any of it was random. There are no oversights with God. Only perfectly crafted chapters in each unique journey - Yasmin Mogahed

Bukan begitu?

Kita bagaimana? Jika memilih untuk rasa stres, pilihlah untuk stres kerana akhirat berbanding stres risaukan urusan dunia.

Why are we tested?
Allah subhanahu wa ta`la, exalted and free from imperfection is He, states that every man and woman will be tested with difficulties, hardship and loss in life. Allah tests us for the following reasons:

  1. To distinguish between those who sincerely believe in Allah and those who don't.
  2. "Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: 'We believe and we will not be tested'?" (Qur'an, Al-Ankabut, 29:2)
  3. To encourage mankind to strive to do good deeds.
  4. "Who has created death and life that He may test who is best in deed." (Qur'an, Al-Mulk 67:2)
  5. To purify the soul and expiate sins.
  6. "Whatever trouble, illness, anxiety, grief, pain and sorrow afflict a Muslim, even if it is the pricking of a thorn - Allah removes some of his sins because of it." (Narrated by Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri, Bukhari and Muslim)
  7. To distinguish between those who believe in the Hereafter (akhirah) and those who do not.
  8. "...We might test him who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt concerning it: and the Lord watches over all things (All-Knower of everything i.e. He keeps record of each and every person as regards to deeds and then He will reward them accordingly.)" (Qur'an, Saba 34:21)
  9. For believers to earn the reward of Paradise (Jannah), if they remain patient and faithful to Allah throughout adversity.
  10. "Did you think that you would enter Paradise without Allah testing those of you who fought hard in His cause and (also) test those who are as-Sabireen (the patient ones)?" (Qur'an, Al-`Imran 3:142)
Tests for Believers and Non-Believers
As mentioned before Allah subhanahu wa ta`la tests his creation to distinguish between those who have faith and those who do not. The stronger they are in faith, the more He will test them. Although this may seem unfair, Allah is never unjust.

The more He tests the believers, the more He will reward them in return. The opportunities to earn the rewards of Allah are equal for both men and women. However, the rewards for believers and non-believers (or disbelievers) are quite different. Rewards for non-believers are only awarded in this life, whereas the rewards for believers are rewarded in this life and in the Hereafter (akhirah).

The life often feels like a prison to the true believer because of all the Islamic restrictions, sacrifices, and severe hardships he has to endure. His life is spent in constant struggle between his own wanton desires and his moral conscience. However, Allah is aware of all his efforts and self-sacrifice and will either rewards for it in this life or in the Hereafter (or both). Every times a believer makes a sacrifice for Allah's sake, he sins will be expiated. A good deed will be written for him and its reward multiplied hundreds of times. Allah provides incentives such as these to encourage us to strive harder and make more and more sacrifices in our lives.

If a person embraces Islam sincerely, then Allah shall forgive all his past sins, and after that starts the settlement of accounts: the reward of his good deeds will be ten times to several hundred times for each good deed, and an evil deed will be recorded as it is, unless Allah forgives it too out of His Mercy.
Worship consists of three levels of belief and striving:
  1. Islam - total submission and obedience to Allah.
  2. Imaan - true faith consisting of belief in the heart, speech of the tongue and action of the limbs.
  3. Ihsaan - perfection of worship, doing good deeds as though you see Allah, and if you cannot achieve this feeling or attitude then you must remember that He sees you.

Every believer should try to live his life according to these basic levels of worship.

At a time in which the Muslims are beset with trials from every periphery, it is a time when Muslims should continue being Muslims, only better Muslims. I would say to my dear brothers and sisters in Islam “don’t be Sad”; if you are on the true religion – believing in One God and all the Messengers sent to mankind, then don’t be sad.
“…Bear with patience whatever befalls you….” (Qur’an 31:17)
and
“Be not sad, surely Allah is with us.” (Qur’an 9:40)
Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said
Verily, if Allah loves a people, He makes them go through trials. Whoever is satisfied, for him is contentment, and whoever is angry upon him is wrath.” [Tirmidhi]

Being sad is not encouraged in Islam

Allah Subhana wa’taala said:

“So do not become weak, nor be sad…” (Qur’an 3:139)
“And grieve not over them, and be not distressed because of what they plot.” (Qur’an 16:127)
Sadness prevents one from action instead of compelling one towards it. The heart does not benefit through grief. The most beloved thing to the devil is to hinder the worshipper in the path of Allah. The Muslim must repel sadness and fight in any way that is permissible in Islam.

If mother of Prophet Isah (Jesus) (AS), Maryam, had carried and delivered him all in a single day, world would have praised it as a miracle. They would have referred her as a woman with divinity (special powers from God). No one would have thrown stones at her, isolated or accused her of wrongdoings.
Why did not Allah make this a miracle happening all in a single day?
That is the natural procedure Allah would carry out his decision. We can understand this fact from many mentions in Qur’an. If Allah decides to test His slave, that would occur in all normal and ordinary way- be it an ailment, hunger or fear- everything happens in its natural way. But, we have been completely wrong in perceiving this in real sense. A believer must comprehend that whatever Allah orders would certainly happen in his life and whatever happened in the past and present are as per the decrees of Allah. This comprehension is something which is possible only for a believer. Let’s see what Allah orders to the gallant warriors who fight with the enemies in the battlefield.
He says in Surah Thouba, verse 51:
Say: “Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us, He is our protector”, and on Allah let the Believers put their trust (Qura’n 9:51).
